Find Your Perfect Belt Size
A great belt should fit comfortably and look right for years. Every Odin Leather Goods belt is cut and finished by hand in our Texas workshop, so choosing the right size ensures the best fit and appearance.
The most accurate way to determine your belt size is to measure a belt you already wear regularly. Follow the simple steps below.
BEST Method 1: Measure a Belt You Already Own
This is the most accurate way to find your belt size.
- Lay your existing belt flat on a table.
- Measure from the leather fold at the buckle to the hole you use most often.
- Round to the nearest even number.
Example: If the measurement is 37", order a size 38 belt.
At Odin Leather Goods, the belt size represents the distance from the buckle fold to the center hole of the belt.
Our belts typically have five holes spaced one inch apart, so you have room to adjust two sizes up or down.
ALTERNATIVE Method 2: Use Your Pant Size
If you do not have a belt to measure, you can estimate your new belt size from your pant waist size.
Rule of thumb: Your belt size is usually 2 inches larger than your pant size.
| Pant Size | Recommended Belt Size |
|---|---|
| 32 | 34 |
| 34 | 36 |
| 36 | 38 |
| 38 | 40 |
| 40 | 42 |
This works because a belt wraps around your pants and anything carried in your pockets or on your belt.
Western & Hand-Tooled Belt Sizing
Many of our custom hand-tooled and stamped belts are worn with large Western buckles. These buckles can add additional length to the front of the belt. If you plan to use an oversized trophy buckle or Western buckle, we recommend adding 1–2 extra inches to your measured belt size.
Example:
- Measured size: 38
- Large buckle adjustment: +1-2
- Recommended belt size: 40

Common Sizing Mistakes
- Do not measure from tip to tip of the belt.
- Do not measure your pants' waistband.
- Always measure from the buckle fold to the hole you use most often on your existing belt.
