ACRYLIC TEMPLATES & CRAFT AIDES
Card Wallet Acrylic Template
Create a slim, minimalist leather card wallet with a durable one-piece acrylic template designed for fast layout, accurate cutting, and repeatable workshop production.
The Elon Card Wallet Acrylic Template provides the primary pattern needed to recreate Odin Leather Goods’ simple card-wallet design. The finished wallet is made for carrying a few essential cards and a small fold of cash without the bulk of a traditional bifold.
Its straightforward construction makes it an approachable project for newer leathercrafters and an efficient small good for experienced makers producing gifts, customer orders, branded merchandise, or retail inventory.
Use the template with a pencil, pen, scratch awl, or other leather-marking tool to transfer the pattern onto your material. The rigid acrylic edge may also be carefully used alongside sharp leather knives, rotary cutters, and other appropriate cutting tools.
What’s Included
This listing includes:
- One acrylic card-wallet template
- An optional cash-slot design incorporated into the pattern
Relevant information is permanently laser-engraved directly onto the acrylic where applicable, including:
- Pattern orientation
- Fold or assembly references
- Hole-punch locations and sizes
- Stitching references
- Skiving guidance
- Optional design details
- Construction notes
Review all engraved markings before cutting, punching, skiving, folding, gluing, or stitching the leather.
Minimalist Everyday Carry
The finished Elon Card Wallet is intended for makers and customers who prefer to carry only the essentials.
Depending on the leather and construction method, it can be used for:
- A few frequently carried cards
- An ID and primary payment cards
- Business cards
- A small fold of cash
- Front-pocket everyday carry
- Nights out or occasions when a full-size wallet is unnecessary
The wallet may feel snug when first completed. Full-grain leather will generally relax and conform to its contents through regular use.
Optional Cash Slot
The template includes an optional cash-slot feature, allowing the maker to choose between a simpler card-only configuration and a version with dedicated access for folded currency.
Before cutting, review the engraved pattern notes and decide which configuration you intend to build.
When adding the cash slot, consider:
- The thickness of the selected leather
- The amount of overlap created by the additional opening
- Whether the slot requires skiving
- The direction from which the cash should be accessed
- Whether the wallet will be hand stitched or machine sewn
- The amount of stretch expected during break-in
Test the opening with folded currency before completing multiple wallets.
Hand Stitch or Machine Sew
The wallet can be constructed using either:
- Traditional hand saddle stitching
- A leather-capable sewing machine
Choose the method that best fits your tools, experience, production volume, and desired finished appearance.
When machine sewing, account for presser-foot clearance and the combined thickness of the folded or overlapping leather.
When hand stitching, select a stitch spacing, thread size, needle combination, and hole style appropriate for your chosen leather.
Choosing Your Leather
A compact card wallet is generally best made from relatively thin leather to control bulk while retaining enough firmness to hold cards securely.
Suitable options may include:
- Vegetable-tanned leather
- Kangaroo leather
- Calfskin
- Goat leather
- Thin English bridle leather
- Thin harness leather
- Firm chrome-tanned leather
- Waxed or pull-up leather
- Other durable full-grain leathers
When selecting material, consider:
- The firmness and temper of the hide
- The total thickness after folding
- Whether the wallet will be hand stitched or machine sewn
- Whether the edges will be burnished, painted, or left natural
- The amount of stretch in the leather
- How quickly the wallet should soften and break in
- Whether the optional cash slot will be used
Leather that is too thick may create unnecessary bulk or make the wallet difficult to fold. Leather that is too soft or stretchy may provide less card retention.
Test your selected leather and construction method before beginning small-batch production.
Make the Design Your Own
The wallet’s compact surface provides room for subtle customization through:
- Names or initials
- Maker’s marks
- Ranch or family brands
- Laser engraving
- Hand stamping
- Small tooling designs
- Decorative stitching
- Contrasting thread
- Painted or burnished edges
- Custom pocket openings
- Branded corporate or event artwork
The simple format makes the finished wallet particularly suitable for personalized gifts, event merchandise, promotional goods, and entry-level product lines.
Designed for Repeatable Results
The rigid acrylic template helps you:
- Maintain a consistent overall shape
- Transfer fold, stitch, and optional cash-slot locations accurately
- Position the pattern efficiently on the hide
- See grain, scars, color variation, and surface character beneath the tinted acrylic
- Avoid undesirable areas before cutting
- Reduce repeated measuring and pattern redrawing
- Reproduce the wallet for gifts, customer orders, or regular production
Built for Daily Workshop Use
Each Odin Leather Goods acrylic template is:
- Laser-cut from durable 1/8-inch tinted cast acrylic
- Built for frequent use in hobby and production workshops
- Transparent enough to see the leather beneath the template
- Suitable for use with pencils, pens, scratch awls, and other leather-marking tools
- Durable enough to carefully use alongside sharp leatherworking knives and cutting tools
- Permanently engraved with relevant notes and construction markings
- Designed and made in Texas by working leathercrafters
Unlike paper or cardstock patterns, the rigid acrylic will not easily bend, distort, tear, or wear out through repeated use.
Acrylic Color
Due to changing material availability and supply lines, your template may be made from green-, blue-, or orange-tinted acrylic. Acrylic color is not selectable and may vary from the product photographs.
The color does not affect the template’s dimensions, durability, markings, or functionality.
Important Notes
This listing is for one acrylic template only. Leather, thread, needles, adhesives, tools, cards, currency, finished wallets, and other supplies are not included.
A supporting build video is not currently available.
The acrylic may arrive with a removable protective film on one or both sides. Remove the film before using the template.
Finished carrying capacity will vary according to the leather thickness, temper, construction method, optional cash-slot configuration, and how fully the wallet has broken in.
