ACRYLIC TEMPLATES & CRAFT AIDES
Pocket Wallet Acrylic Template Set
Create a compact, minimalist leather wallet with a durable acrylic template set designed for accurate cutting, clean assembly, and repeatable workshop production.
The Devan Pocket Wallet Acrylic Template Set provides the pattern pieces needed to recreate one of Odin Leather Goods’ most practical front-pocket wallet designs.
The finished wallet offers a simple alternative to a traditional bifold, comfortably carrying approximately six cards and a small amount of folded cash. As the leather breaks in, it will soften and mold naturally around the contents carried most often.
Use the templates with a pencil, pen, scratch awl, or other leather-marking tool to transfer the pattern onto your material. The durable acrylic edges may also be carefully used alongside sharp leather knives and cutting tools.
What’s Included
The acrylic template set includes the pattern components needed to construct the Devan Pocket Wallet.
Relevant information is permanently laser-engraved directly onto the acrylic where applicable, including:
- Pattern-piece identification
- Alignment references
- Stitching guides
- Hole-punch locations and sizes
- Fold or assembly references
- Skiving guidance
- Construction notes
- Piece orientation
Review all engraved notes before cutting, punching, skiving, gluing, stitching, or assembling the wallet.
A Minimalist Front-Pocket Wallet
The finished Devan Pocket Wallet is designed for makers and customers who prefer to carry only the essentials.
It is well suited for:
- Daily front-pocket carry
- Approximately six cards
- A small amount of folded cash
- An ID and primary payment cards
- Nights out or occasions when a full-size wallet is unnecessary
- Minimalist everyday carry
The wallet may feel snug when first assembled. Full-grain leather will typically relax and conform to its contents with regular use.
Hand Stitch or Machine Sew
The wallet can be constructed using either:
- Traditional hand saddle stitching
- A leather-capable sewing machine
Choose the method that best fits your tools, experience, production needs, and desired appearance.
When machine sewing, consider the combined thickness of the overlapping leather and confirm adequate presser-foot clearance.
When hand stitching, select a thread size, stitch spacing, needle combination, and hole style appropriate for the leather being used.
Choosing Your Leather
The Devan Pocket Wallet can be made from a variety of vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leathers.
Suitable options may include:
- Vegetable-tanned leather
- English bridle leather
- Harness leather
- Vachetta
- Firm chrome-tanned leather
- Waxed suede
- Calfskin
- Goat leather
- Kangaroo leather
When selecting leather, consider:
- The firmness and temper of the hide
- The total thickness created where components overlap
- Whether the wallet will be hand stitched or machine sewn
- Whether the edges will be burnished, painted, or left natural
- The amount of structure desired
- How quickly the finished wallet should soften and break in
A thinner, firmer leather can create a refined wallet with less bulk. A softer or heavier leather may produce a more relaxed wallet but can increase thickness at the seams.
Test your chosen leather and construction method before producing multiple wallets.
Make the Design Your Own
The compact format provides a strong foundation for customization through:
- Contrasting leather components
- Decorative hand stitching
- Names, initials, or monograms
- Maker’s marks and branded details
- Laser engraving
- Hand stamping
- Small tooling designs
- Painted or burnished edges
- Decorative notches or pocket profiles
- Custom thread colors
The template establishes the critical shapes and alignment while leaving the final leather, stitching, decoration, and edge treatment to the maker.
Designed for Repeatable Results
The rigid acrylic templates help you:
- Maintain consistent component shapes
- Align overlapping wallet pieces accurately
- Position the pattern efficiently on the hide
- See grain, scars, color variation, and surface character beneath the tinted acrylic
- Avoid undesirable areas before cutting
- Transfer important construction references
- Reduce repeated measuring and pattern redrawing
- Reproduce the wallet for gifts, customer orders, or small-batch production
Built for Daily Workshop Use
Each Odin Leather Goods acrylic template is:
- Laser-cut from durable 1/8-inch tinted cast acrylic
- Built for frequent use in hobby and production workshops
- Transparent enough to see the leather beneath the template
- Suitable for use with pencils, pens, scratch awls, and other leather-marking tools
- Durable enough to carefully use alongside sharp leatherworking knives and cutting tools
- Permanently engraved with relevant notes and construction markings
- Designed and made in Texas by working leathercrafters
Unlike paper or cardstock patterns, the rigid acrylic will not easily bend, distort, tear, or wear out through repeated use.
Acrylic Color
Due to changing material availability and supply lines, your template may be made from green-, blue-, or orange-tinted acrylic. Acrylic color is not selectable and may vary from the product photographs.
The color does not affect the template’s dimensions, durability, markings, or functionality.
Important Notes
This listing is for the acrylic template set only. Leather, thread, needles, adhesives, tools, cash, cards, finished wallets, and other supplies are not included.
The acrylic may arrive with a removable protective film on one or both sides. Remove the film before using the templates.
The finished wallet’s carrying capacity will vary according to the leather’s thickness, temper, construction method, and how fully the wallet has broken in.
